Centrad is a designer and supplier of electronic information systems. The company grew out of Central Buses (an independent bus operator based in the West Midlands) some years ago. At the time Geoff Cross, Managing Director of Central Buses, wanted to equip his fleet with electronic LED Destination Displays but was having difficulty in sourcing the right product at the right price. Fortunately his father is an electronics engineer with over 30 years experience in design and manufacture of electronic equipment and micro-systems. Out of this partnership grew a flourishing range of cost effective, reliable products specifically designed for the bus and coach industry. The range now includes CCTV Systems, LCD Monitors, LED interior lighting and LED Information and Destination Displays.
The company continues to establish its reputation of making innovative technology accessible to the mass market and its promise is to create the most affordable, easiest-to-use and cost effective systems.
Every new product design is fully tested and extensively trialled within Central Buses bus fleet, the end result being a product that is exceptionally easy to use and is exceptionally reliable.
The company keeps its overheads down by sharing its base with its bus operating sister division. In addition the company does not employ sales people, instead customers are invited to the company’s show rooms near Birmingham City Centre to discuss their needs, to see the equipment in the showroom and then to see it in operation.
From the outset the company has designed all its products to be ‘DIY’ fitted, ensuring that operators can keep costs down even further by using their own staff to install the equipment. Recommended fitters are available if needed.
Systems have been received with much acclaim; and the company continues to benefit with ongoing investment as the product base is expanded.
